Mike Pharmacy latest on board
Kaieteur Sports – All systems are already in place for the much anticipated Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) CARICOM Day horse race meet set for Monday 3rd July at the club’s track, Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne Berbice.
More sponsors and horses have come on board as they clamour to be a part of the big day with Mike’s Pharmacy and Rice Miller Kissondyal of Mahaica being the latest to enter the sponsorship column. Trophy Stall has already presented and donated trophies for the big day.
There are close to 60 entries and turfites are expected to turn out in their thousands for what is expected to be an exciting days of racing.
With six races and over $4M in cash trophies and other incentives on offer, horse owners and punters have been taking no chances. The owners are busy fine tuning their animals as they go through their workouts in preparation for the big day.
The feature event, which is for the animals classified G3 non winners and lower, has a top notch line up with the best in that category penciled to go. Nuclear Fire will be looking to burn up the track with its power, but American Traveler will want to travel all the way for the win. Memories will be looking for a memorable performance in its quest to cross the line first. The likes of Amerceable Kate, Republican and Pocoyo have all been looking good at gallops as they look to work their magic to capture the $500,000 and trophy available for the winner over 7 furlongs.
The other races listed for the day are the event for J1 and lower over 6 furlongs.
The contest for three years old maiden horses also over 6 furlongs.
A race for the Guyana Bred two years old horses over 5 furlongs.
While the remaining two races are, the L class Open animals matchup and one for J and L non-earners over 6 furlongs.
Outstanding performers will receive accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall and the organisers.
The day’s event will be conducted using the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA). Race time is 13:00 hrs.
