Kaieteur Sports – Horse owners are urged to submit their entries within the stipulated timeframe by the organizing committee prior to the closing date. The Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee (JJTRC) has been extremely accommodating to late entries in past years. For 2023 the reins will be tightened to ensure all horses entering the various races are micro-chipped and registered to start in their respective class.
The JJTRC has been working closely with other Stable owners to raise the standard of horse racing in Guyana. Special measures are expected to be put in place to ensure a smooth equality for all horse owners.
When asked to comment on the new changes Mr. Nasrudeen Mohamed explained, “We will offer a special concession to all horse owners and stables who enter this Sunday’s One Guyana Breeders Cup. All entrants will be eligible to pay a reduced entry fee for the Guyana Cup 2023.
The standard 6% fee will remain the same for all imported horses who haven’t yet raced. Horses that did not participate in the Breeders Cup are subject to pay an increase percentage.
Our aim is to create a platform for all horse racing enthusiasts and stable owners to showcase their craft. Once individuals continue down this path they will have to pay an additional 2 percent penalty entry fee added to the standard entrance fee for the Guyana cup. We have decided to extend the closing date for entries until the close of business today to ensure all local and international horses have a last minute opportunity to be part of this mega event. So join us as we start the road to Guyana Cup 2023,” Mohamed disclosed.
The Guyana Cup is set to be launched today, while the focus still remains on Sunday’s One Guyana Breeders Cup meet at Bush Lot where horse owners and their charges tune up for the prestigious Guyana Cup.
