Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s National women’s 3×3 basketball team has embarked on their journey to the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador, filled with anticipation for the upcoming action.
Leading the team is Spain-based player Ruth Adams, who brings a wealth of experience to the squad. Joining her are Shania Sears, Jamaicy Ogle, and Kennesha Leacock.
Unfortunately, Kristy Thomas, who hails from Bartica, had to be replaced by Ogle due to unforeseen last-minute issues.
While the CAC Games officially commenced on June 23 and will conclude on July 8, the 3×3 basketball event is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 2.
Expressing his best wishes, the President of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), Michael Singh, extended his support to the team, stating that the entire country stands united in their hopes for a successful performance in San Salvador.
The GBF president emphasised the federation’s commitment to supporting women’s basketball in Guyana.
Singh highlighted the significance of the CAC Games, as it presents a unique opportunity for the locally-based players, all of whom hail from Region 10, to showcase their skills and compete against counterparts from the Centrobasket region.
As the team embarks on this exciting journey, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of a nation, fueled by the belief that their talent and dedication will shine on the international stage.
