Kaieteur Sports – Get ready for an exhilarating showdown as the countdown begins to the highly anticipated 2023 Stage of Champions International Bodybuilding championship. The event is penciled for 9th of July at the prestigious Ramada Princess Hotel in Providence.
The 2023 event is generating a buzz that is hard to ignore. Particularly after a lengthy break from competition owing to the recent Covid 19 pandemic. Yesterday, the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), together with the event’s promoters, organizers, and sponsors, hosted a brief press conference at the Camille Academy’s Auditorium in Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
The Stage of Champions is dubbed as the pinnacle of bodybuilding excellence, with three titles up for grabs in the categories of Mr. Bodybuilding, Mr. Physique, and Miss Bikini. Meanwhile, during the press conference, Keavon Bess, the President of GBBFF, emphasized that this competition will be graced by the most exceptional athletes in the field. Already, seven countries have registered to participate in this year’s competition, including Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Suriname, Jamaica, Grenada, St. Marteen, and the host nation, Guyana.

Bess revealed the staggering prize money for the winners. According to him, the first-place prize for Mr. Bodybuilder is set at an impressive $500,000, while second place will walk away with $250,000, and third place will take home $150,000. Also in the Miss Bikini category, the first-place winner will be awarded $300,000, second-place winner will receives $200,000, and the third-place winner will secure $100,000.
The Stage of Champions team continues to elevate the sport of bodybuilding in Guyana and the Caribbean through their unwavering commitment to education, discipline, and hard work. However, this year’s competition has attracted renowned athletes such as Barbados’ most decorated bodybuilder, Hoskin Worrel, and Guyana’s reigning Mr. Guyana, Darious Ramsammy, who secured the second position in the recent Roger Boyce Classic in Barbados.
Additionally, the reigning Miss Bikini champion, Hanna Rampersaud, the reigning Novice Miss Bikini, Melitha Anderson, the reigning Mr. Physique, Emerson Campbell, and the CAC champion, Julio Sinclair, are among the stellar lineup that is set to captivate the audience on championship night. The championship aims to witness the participation of over forty athletes from across the Caribbean, all vying for the coveted titles.
Meanwhile, the event has garnered support from prominent sponsors including New GPC Inc, Western Scientific, Guyana Outdoor Sports, Camille Academy, West Indies Sports Complex, Twins Manufacturing, Space Gym and Fitness Express. Tickets cost $3000.
