Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – The prompt, on-the-spot and swift decision to align NIS and Old Age pensions payments on the first working day of the month effective July, is being described as: ‘leadership is about listening’, ‘We listened and we acted’. While the move is a good one for these categories of pensioners, it has to be wondered though, how the alignment of payments of these pensions will aid and assist with the steady rise in cost of living and the daily fight to make ends meet and fulfill obligations? More needs to be done for these citizens.
This listening and acting with alacrity must transcend all aspects of national life. If only.
Sincerely
Shamshun Mohamed
