Struggling with skin problems pushed U.S based Linden woman to create her own skin-care line

Kaieteur News – For most of her adolescent life, U.S based Lindener, Shmieza Cameron, struggled with acne and hyperpigmentation on her face. In addition to the physical downside, this affected her mentally and emotionally. In her quest for luminous skin, she sought after a wide array of skin-care products and techniques, but realised that there was no one product that suited the formula, but a concoction of several, that would target each dermatological need.

It was then that the idea was birthed to create one product from her variety, to help others dealing with the same skin-care challenges. “Since I started making and using my own products, I have received many compliments and positive feedback about my skin from family members, friends, and even people on the streets, who often ask what products I use on my skin and how much they love how my skin is so radiant. This also motivated me to start my own business; apart from these things, I wanted to create another source of income for myself,” she said.
What she noted is that a natural product with skin-lightening properties has to be the basis of the formula. This worked for her and she wanted to commercialize this new found secret. She not only wanted to create a product to solve acne and pigmentation issues but to ensure that customers are left with luminous glowing skin, hence her skin-care line, ‘Luminous Body Skincare’ was birthed. “Luminous Body Skincare is luxury Skincare. Everything about my brand is done intentionally. When I think of the word Luminous, it gives me vibes of glowing, radiant, luscious, and bright skin, which is what luminous body skincare stands for,” she boasted.
While there were some initial push backs with the skin-lightening properties, she said persons are now open to moving beyond societal norms. The aim, she said, is not to change anyone’s identity, but to allow customers to feel confident in their own skin. “The skin-care industry is expanding like the fashion industry, and people are becoming more open-minded about it. Some of my customers now are people who didn’t support my choice in the beginning, and that speaks volumes. The world is evolving, and people and becoming more comfortable with the notion of doing what fits them,” she shared.
Her product is not only a mixture of other products she used, but she spent time researching and perfecting the perfect skin-care line, so that customers can be guaranteed quality and value for their money.
“I spent an extensive amount of time putting a lot of thought into every detail of this brand, from the business name to the design development and, most importantly, the actual content in each container. I spent much time testing the products to ensure I gave my customers the best value for their money.”
