– Open to all imported Horses
Kaieteur Sports – The Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee has opened the playing field to accommodate all imported horses for the highly anticipated One Guyana Breeders Cup carded for Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Because of the overwhelming request from horse owners who have invested heavily to import thoroughbreds from Jamaica, Brazil, America, Canada & Trinidad, the JJTRC decided to add a feature event D Class & Lower with a first prize of G$2,000,000.
Preparations have been moving feverishly to get Bush Lot United Turf Club for the Race that has been the talk of the town. The track was refurbished with adequate irrigation to ensure the terrain could withstand active rain. The focus has been shifted to the stands and parking area to ensure the patrons have a hassle experience at the race.
Work is underway to start the construction process for 17 Horse Stables that would be rented at a subsidized cost to further boost the sport and create much-needed employment opportunities for the youth in Bush Lot and surrounding areas.
Patrons can expect a fun-filled day of racing and a host of other attractions that will keep the kids busy. An elevated area will be created to accommodate patrons who wish to have an aerial view of the races.
Meanwhile, Community businessman and founder Nasrudeen Mohamed, who heads the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Horse Racing Committee, single handedly executed the refurbishment of the facility at a cost exceeding $60 million, as a gift to the community.
Horse racing patrons will now witness eight (8) exciting races commencing from noon, whereas an after party is expected to take place after the action concludes at 18:00 hrs.
The show is expected to feature over 10 of Guyana’s top DJ’s, due to an overwhelming request for a structured DJ Clash, the JJTRC has decided to host the said event as an added attraction.
There will be well stocked bars courtesy our proud sponsor, Banks DIH, along with an array of local delicacies on sale for the duration of the event. Patrons access one of our strategically placed elevated decks for an amazing aerial view of the track. Special attention was placed on local and Suriname-bred horses with a higher purse being offered to motivate horse owners and trainers to breed locally.
This event is sponsored by Banks DIH, Jumbo Jet, AJM Enterprise, Jagdeo Racing Stable, Gonsalves Racing Stables, Rising Sun Racing Stable and Slingers Racing Stables among others.
