Kaieteur Sports – Seasoned campaigner and Canada-based Guyanese Naresh Bodo stroked an enterprising 94 to inspire Leguan Warriors to a convincing 135-run win over All-Stars on Sunday at Littles Park, Scarborough, Ontario.
It was Leguan Warriors’ four straight victories since the commencement of this year’s Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs Over-40, T20 competition.
The right-handed Bodo struck 12 sixes and a four during his 53-ball exhibition as Leguan Warriors piled on a daunting 229-5 from the 20 overs while All-Stars only replied with 94-6 at the expiration of the 20 overs.
Bodo whose highest softball score was 120 in the Over-50 tournament, got solid support from Vishal Balram who batted aggressively as well to make 75. His inning was characterized by six sixes and two fours from 50 deliveries.
In All-Stars’ innings, another Guyanese-born Surendra Persaud offered a fight with 21 to be the leading scorer as Bodo returned with the ball to prove his all-round capability snatching 2-10 from his maximum three overs.
The eight-team round-robin competition is set to continue this Sunday with several matches across the Scarborough Region.
Leguan Warriors remained at the top of the point chart having accumulated 24 points while Ramblers occupy the second position with 12 points. Defending champions Carr Tec Masters at 3 also on 12 points, but a better net-run-rate comes into play.
The season is slated to conclude in late August with the Grand Finale.
For this Sunday, Leguan Warriors will take on Ramblers while All-Stars confront Pegasus.
