Kaieteur News – Guyana is being warned by Sinotruk Inc. a Hong Kong based company to be cautious about buying its products from third party suppliers.
According to a statement issued by Jumbo Jet Auto Sales which recently signed a US multi-million dollar contract with the company, there has been a tremendous increase in the demand for new dump trucks.
A total of 96 units comprising of 6X4, 6X6 and 6X8 dump trucks, cement mixers, fuel tankers and crane trucks have been imported to date with most being pre-sold.
“Our contractors have been extremely pleased with the durability and reliability of the brand-new units especially due to their off-road capabilities and the increased payload capacity. The popular HOWO brand is now the most sought-after dump truck by contractors,” said Jumbo Jet Auto Sales in a statement to the media.
Because of the demand, Jumo Jet said that “multiple third-party suppliers have been advertising the sale of similar units under the pretense that they are sanctioned by the international body. Their unofficial advertising consists of Sinotruk and HOWO logos that is deemed as misleading especially since Jumbo Jet Auto Sales has the official rights to for the brand.”
The increase in unlicensed suppliers of Sinotruk units was brought to the attention of Mr. Taonaiji General Manager of Caribbean Sinotruk Incorporated who stated, “Our company has not entered into any further contractual agreements with any other Guyanese supplier. We are 100 percent obligated to Jumbo Jet Auto Sales for the next few years and we urge the Guyanese people to desist from purchasing from unlicensed third-party suppliers.”
According to the statement issued the unlicensed suppliers purchase used and refurbished units online and receive no “official warranty or spare parts from Sinotruk.” As a result, Jumbo Jet said that those suppliers are unable to offer Guyanese warranty on their sale.
“Sinotruk Inc. gives all assurance that the units that are supplied by Jumbo Jet Auto Sales are authentic and comes with a comprehensive warranty and after service spare parts program. Sinotruk would have done the due diligence on Jumbo Jet and because their reputation precedes them with a successful track record spanning over 20 years; we were sold that this decision was best for Sinotruk and Guyana. We will continue to work together with our local partner Jumbo Jet to cater to the rapidly growing demand for heavy duty trucks and more,” the statement concluded.
