Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) 2023 Oceaneering Boy’s and Girl’s Under-14 Indoor Hockey Development League is set to conclude today at Marian Academy, located on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.
The competition has been fierce throughout the league, as the eight remaining teams are prepared to give their all, with four semi-finals carded for this evening.
In the boys’ category, YMCA Old Fort will face off against RISS Blade Runners in the first semi-final match. Simultaneously, GCC Outlaws will clash with SHC Minions in a battle of skills and strategy.
On the girls’ side, the first semi-final will feature a thrilling match between SHC Sensation and CLSS Scouts. While in the other semi-final, GCC Challengers will compete against CLSS Samurais, both vying for a spot in the finals. Both semi finals are scheduled to commence at 16:30 hours, where the winners of the respective matches will face each other in the finals.
As it stands, SHC Sensations currently hold the top position in the league standings, having secured an impressive six wins in as many matches. This exceptional performance has earned them 18 points, providing them with a strong foundation as they face off against CLSS Scouts in their semi-finals encounter. Not far behind, GCC Challengers have had an outstanding form during the league, amassing 13 points and securing second place.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ division, YMCA Old Fort, with their impressive tally of 15 points, is eager to continue their winning streak as they confront RISS Blade Runners in the semi-finals. This clash between two skilled teams is sure to deliver an exhilarating display of talent and determination.
The Oceaneering-sponsored league which has been a wonderful showcase of young talent, will reach its zenith this evening; starting first with the Girl’s final beginning at 17:30 hours, followed by the Boy’s final at 18:00 hours.
