Kaieteur Sports – Pugnacious left-handed batsman Sunil Dhaniram smashed a magnificent 193 and Shiv Seeram slammed 121 as their team Toronto Blizzards thrashed Friendship Masters by 152 runs in another preliminary round match in the 2023 Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs (OMSCC) Over-50, 20-overs tournament last Saturday at Littles Park, Scarborough.
Dhaniram, the former Canadian International skipper and Guyana first-class player, flayed the hapless attack to all-round the park, pummelling 24 sixes and six fours in a 67-ball batting exhibition. Toronto Blizzards reached a formidable 351-2 from the allotment of 20-overs while Friendship Masters were all out for 152 in the penultimate over.
Apart from Dhaniram’s flamboyance, his fellow opener and ex-Guyana youth player, Seeram was equally aggressive as he clobbered 18 sixes and one four during his 36-ball entertainment. The veteran pair also shared a massive 268-run opening stand that drained enthusiasm out of the opposition.
For Friendship Masters, Imran Rasool offered brief resistance with 25 and Randy Ramdayal making 24. Mohan Singh grabbed 4-12 from his maximum three overs delivering for the defending champions Toronto Blizzards.
Meanwhile, Toronto Blizzards continued to sit at the top on the points’ chart having raked in four victories from as many matches.
Pegasus Storm at number 2 with three wins from four games, while Friendship Masters languishes at number 6 in the seven-team round-robin tournament which is slated to finish late August.
The competition will resume this Saturday with three simultaneous matches in the Scarborough Region. Friendship Masters will collide with Pegasus Storm, while Toronto Blizzards have drawn the bye.
