Kaieteur News – A hire car driver from Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden was on Saturday night shot to his buttocks by an unidentified masked man.
The victim has been identified as 33 –year-old, Norbert Beckles called ‘Bull Boy’ of Lot 45 Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden.
According to Beckles, the incident occurred at around 20:00h as he was heading home after returning to the mining town from Georgetown. The injured man told police that he had just arrived from Georgetown and was walking to his home along the Victory Valley Public Road.
While on his journey home, he looked through an alleyway and observed an unidentifiable male walking out from the said alleyway pointing a handgun in his direction.
Afraid for his life, Beckles said he started running. As he ran, he said he heard several loud explosions from behind him then felt a burning sensation in his buttocks.
Notwithstanding, he continued running, turned through a track that led him to the Wismar Police Station where he made a report.
Beckles was immediately taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was admitted as a patient nursing a gunshot injury to his buttocks. Kaieteur News understands that the bullet which entered his buttocks exited his penis. His condition is listed as stable and he has since been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for additional treatment.
Meanwhile, several spent shells were seen on the road by residents. No one has been arrested as police continue their investigation.
