Kaieteur Sports – In a game of extraordinary proportion recently at Centennial Park, in the continuation of the Etobicoke District Cricket League 40-overs round-robin tournament, former Guyana Under-19 captain Eugene LaFleur waltzed his way to a brilliant, unbeaten 215 to help Redemption Cricket Club pile on a massive 460-6 from the 40-overs, but opposition Commanders Cricket Team were bundled out for a humiliating 14 off 11.3 overs losing by an incredible 446 runs, much to the consternation of their players and supporters.
Ex-Trinidad and Tobago fast-bowler Atiba Allert did most of the damage by bagging 6-4 from six overs, while left-arm orthodox spinner Paul Harrison supported with 4-1 from a splendid 2.3 overs to destroy Commanders.
After Redemption winning the toss and opted to take first strike, it was runs-galore from there on. The left-handed LaFleur plundered 15 sixes and 13 fours while other batsmen capitalised on some innocuous bowling.
Mark Montfort, a Canadian player, stroked 84 while Kevin Williams made 61 and Harrison with 37, all in blistering fashion.
Redemption have now chalked up four wins from five games. The other was a defeat.
The 10-team tournament is set to resume this Sunday with a set of matches.
Redemption Cricket Club will take on Brampton Baazs at Keele Top while Commanders Cricket Team will match their skills with Hairounaz at Centennial Park.
Redemption sitting at number 2 on the points’ table (40) while the unbeaten Hairounaz leading things with 50 points. Commanders are number 5 having accumulated 10 points thus far.
