Kaieteur News – Father’s Day on Sunday turned tragic for the family of Eyone Hernandez after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his son.
According to the police, they are currently investigating the death of 47-year-old Hernandez of Lot 509 C Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown who was reportedly stabbed to death around 23:30hrs by his 20-year-old son.
Police said the deceased who is a Venezuelan national and his son who allegedly suffers from a mental illness had an argument over food that day. Investigators were told that the argument turned heated when the suspect reportedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim to the back of his left thigh.
An alarm was raised by the victim’s wife causing the suspect to be detained with the knife in his possession. Reports are that Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) from the Alberttown Fire Service responded to the scene, and Hernandez was pronounced dead.
Police reported that on examining the man’s body, it was observed that he suffered one stab wound to the back left thigh and no other wound was observed on his body. The deceased was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination. The suspect was taken into custody.
