BCB/ RL Construction U15 Tournament
Kaieteur Sports – The Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes Ltd Under15 team has advanced to the final of the Berbice Cricket Board Under15 RL Construction Tournament.
They defeated Bath Sports Club of West Coast Berbice by 10 wickets in the first semifinal at the Area H Ground.
Rose Hall Canje easily defeated defending champions Port Mourant by 9 wickets at Jai Hind Cricket Club Ground to advance to the second semifinal.
Bath batting first could only muster 38 all out on 16 overs with Christopher Baldeo (14) and Chris Sansar (10) reaching double figures.
Rose Hall Town bowlers bowled well in very heated condition, led by Berbice U13 player Dev Sewpersaud who took 4-10 and Munesh Rampersaud 2-8.
In reply, Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes achieved victory in 12 overs as Balraj Narine (10) and Munesh Rampersaud (25*) single-handedly won the match for his team.
At Jai Hind Ground, Rose Hall Canje Arborsmarts gained sweet revenge over Port Mourant, who defeated them in the last year BCB final.
Batting first, Port Mourant were bowled out for a disappointing 60 from 23 overs as only A. Paracha reached double figures with 10.
National youth player Romario Ramdeholl 3 for 2 from 7 overs, Adrian Hetymer 3 for 5 and Ahil Hemraj 2 for 5 were the best bowlers for Canje.
In reply, RHCC Arborsmart reached 61 for 1 in the ninth over as Lakeram Singh hit an attractive 31 not out with three boundaries and two sixes. Adrian Hetymer was also unbeaten on 21 when victory was achieved. Hetymer struck two massive sixes in his innings.
The tournament continues with Tucber Park facing Edinburgh to decide the runner up spot for the New Amsterdam/ Canje area.
The winner of that match would then play West Berbice Zone winner Cotton Tree for the rights to play Rose Hall Canje Arborsmart in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, BCB president Hilbert Foster is advising Cricket clubs in the county to enter their teams to play in the upcoming tournaments at the Under 11 and Under 13 levels. The cutoff date of birth would be the 1st of January 2012 for U11 and 1st of September 2010 for U13.
The board hopes to play off all junior cricket tournaments by the end of July/early August before using the rest of the year to concentrate on female, second division and first division tournaments.
