Dear Editor,
The Movement for Unity and Democracy is satisfied with the official results of the recently held local government elections (LGE) conducted by the Guyana Elections Commission.
Despite having limited resources and a low overall voter turnout, our Movement has achieved a significant milestone in its quest for change and unity. The Movement contested in three prominent local authority areas – Georgetown, La Parfaite Harmonie, and Soesdyke – and is proud to report that we have received 962 Votes in the proportional representation component and 415 votes in the constituency component of the elections with a total of 1,377 votes across these Local Authority Areas. In particular, we are ecstatic to have secured one seat on the Malgre Tout Meer Zorgen NDC- Region 3 with the support from Parfaite Harmonie. This accomplishment is a testament to the tireless efforts of our dedicated members and supporters who worked diligently to mobilize support for the LGE.
The Movement made a substantial impact on the election results with little effort when compared to the major parties with a lot of financial and human resources. We consider this as a remarkable achievement. We are immensely grateful to all our supporters and members who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to our cause. Their commitment and contributions towards our collective vision of change and unity have been truly remarkable.
This success, as we see it, in the LGE provides us with a strong launching pad for our new movement. It reinforces our confidence that, once we effectively convey our message of change and unity nationwide, we will ultimately prevail. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the individuals who have supported us throughout this journey. Your confidence in our movement and your active participation have been instrumental in our accomplishments thus far. Together, we have proven that the Movement for Unity and Democracy is here to stay.
Regards,
Denzel St Hill
General Secretary – Movement for Unity and Democracy
