Kaieteur News – A Qatari Government delegation is presently in Guyana for discussions about seeking developmental opportunities in the country.
In a statement, the Ministry of Finance disclosed that Senior Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh on Thursday led a Government team in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for a meeting with a visiting Qatar delegation led by Head of the Caribbean and South American Division, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, Shafi Newaimi M.N. Al-Hajri.
The delegation visit serves as a follow-up to President Irfaan Ali’s recent visit to Qatar, where he met and held discussions with Qatar’s Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and members of his Cabinet, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha.
In Qatar, President Ali and HH the Emir held discussions on co-operation relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them, especially in the investment field and energy, in addition to discussing several issues of common interest.
Guyana recently opened an embassy in Qatar.
Moreover, also present at Wednesday’s engagement were Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, and other seniors officials from the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Agriculture.
