Kaieteur Sports – Last Saturday, Troy Gobin slammed a belligerent 108 not out for Pegasus Storm against Dirty Dozen in the continuation of the 2023 Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs (OMSCC) Over-50, 20-overs competition at Dean Park facility in Scarborough, Ontario.
And on Sunday, Krishna Arjune struck an impressive, unbeaten 105 for Pegasus versus Ramblers Sports Club at Littles Park also in Scarborough but in the over-40, 20-overs Division 2 tournament.
The right-handed Gobin, a former Guyana youth player, clobbered ten sixes and four fours as Pegasus Storm surpassed Dirty Dozen’s challenging 185-6 from 20-overs. Gobin’s team achieved victory with 21 balls to spare. Gobin got good support from Ramo Malone who smashed a fiery 33 to help formalize things.
Earlier, Dirty Dozen won the toss and opted to bat. Their innings was built around Charlie Yakub’s steady 62 while the experienced Suresh Persaud and Khemraj Budhai contributed 37 and 34 respectively. Khem Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Pegasus Storm, snatching three wickets for 26 runs from his maximum three overs.
The following day, it was also batting entertainment from another former Guyana batsman. Arjune flayed the attack with 13 sixes and three fours to see Pegasus also accomplishing victory in attractive fashion. Set 172 for victory by Ramblers Sports Club who lost eight wickets, Pegasus reached the target with only three deliveries remaining. The right-handed Arjune occupied the crease for 70 balls while his partner Jai Singh chipped in with a well-calculated 52 which contained six sixes and a four.
For Ramblers Sports Club, Ravi Ramotar top-scored with 72, an innings characterized with six fours and four sixes spanning 72 balls. Skipper Patrick Shivrattan also batted beautifully to make 46 as Bobby Ramlagan grabbed two wickets for 11 runs off two tidy overs.
Details from the other games in both categories in a subsequent post, but the action is set to resume on Saturday with the over-50 guys. Pegasus Storm will meet up Tropical Rebels at Littles Park while Dirty Dozen will tackle Friendship Masters at St. Bedes.
And the over-40 men will be out on Sunday. Pegasus will engage with defending champion Carr Tec at St. Bedes while Ramblers Sports Club will do battle with United Cricket Club at Littles.
Meanwhile, the reigning champion in the Over-50 division is Toronto Blizzards.
