Kaieteur News – The construction of an $82M police station at Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara (EBD) is at 40 per cent completed.
Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mae Toussaint Jr. Thomas on Wednesday, as part of an ongoing capital project inspection exercise, visited the construction site for the police station and also the ongoing construction of the Guyana Police Force’s Information Technology (IT) Training Complex.
During the visit, the PS was briefed that the $82M Mocha Police Station is currently at 40 percent completion, with the ground floor columns and walls completed. All staircases have been cast, and the contractor is currently waiting to cast the first-floor columns, beams, and slabs, the Ministry in a statement reported.
As for the IT Training Complex, it was noted that information technology is an integral part of the Guyana Police Force’s modernization and strategic development.
During the inspection of the ongoing works at the $100M Complex, which is currently being constructed in the Grove Police Station Compound, it was noted that the project is on schedule.
This project is one of four training facilities that are being constructed across the country.
At approximately 40% completion, this centre will not only be open to the police ranks but will also serve members of the public by providing basic ICT training and computer engineering courses, the Ministry of Home Affairs shared.
