Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – The WPA salutes Stanley Humphrey Collins, a dedicated and revered member of the Working People’s Alliance (WPA). Stanley peacefully departed from this world on May 11 and was laid to rest on Saturday, May 20. The funeral ceremony served as a celebration of his life, and it was attended by party members including brothers Tacuma Ogunseye, Randolph Williams, Desmond Trotman, Ali Majeed and Godfrey Sage. Ali Majeed represented the party and delivered a heartfelt tribute on behalf of the WPA and himself.
Throughout his lifetime, Stanley exemplified unwavering commitment and selfless service to both his community and Guyana. His profound dedication to the WPA manifested through his involvement at various levels, including the Executive Committee of WPA, as an RDC representative, and as a member of the Linden Utilities Services Coop Society Limited. Stanley’s enduring membership and activism within the party showcased his unwavering belief in the WPA’s principles and goals. He was also a long-time member of the Guyana Mine Workers Union, and the OWP (Organisation of Working People).
As WPA Executive member Tacuma Ogunseye recently wrote, Stanley was “a renowned athlete, footballer, union shop steward, and member of the OWP, gained recognition and respect in the Linden community long before his political prominence. Known as a fearless individual who passionately defended his convictions, Stanley brought his esteemed reputation as a “people person” to his political activism when he joined the WPA, inspired by the work and struggle of bauxite workers led by Walter Rodney.”
Stanley Humphrey Collins leaves behind a profound legacy, one that serves as a testament to his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of Guyana and its people. His remarkable life will continue to inspire generations to come, reminding us all of the profound impact an individual can make through selfless service and unwavering conviction.
The WPA extends its heartfelt condolences to Stanley’s immediate and extended family, and relatives.
Regards
Working People’s Alliance
