Women’s T20 Blaze…
Kaieteur Sports – Guyana pulled off a 1-run thriller to maintain their win streak following yesterday’s win over rivals Trinidad and Tobago, when action in the Women’s T20 Blaze continued to eventually earn the second spot in the tournament.
Barbados managed to follow up their 50 over title as they clinched the T20 as well.
Guyana beat Trinidad and Tobago by 1 run
Mandy Mangru bagged 4 for 11 in an amazing spell of spin while Ashmini Munisar (2-18) and a wicket each from Sheneta Grimmond, Kaycia Schultz and Plaffianna Millington rattled T&T for 38 in 18.4 overs; as none of their batters managed to reach double figures.
Guyana then had a few hiccups on their way to victory, ending on 39-9 in 19.3 overs. Shamaine Campbell (13) and Schultz (9) were the main scorers in the chase.
Veteran spinner Anisa Mohammed grabbed 4-5 during a brilliant spell, with support from Shalini Samaroo and Steffi Soogrim who did their best with 2 wickets each.
Barbados beat Leewards by 8 wickets, win T20 title
The Bajans completed an easy win after opener Kycia Knight struck 63 from 51 not out with 9 fours. Aaliyah Alleyne hit 32 off 26 as they cruised to 122 for 2 in 17.3 overs.
Amanda Edwards grabbed 2-12 bowling for Leewards, who were kept to 121-5 after 20 overs ended. Divya Saxena hit 33 not out, Rozel Liburd (20) and Edwards (15) but their side still lost to a better team.
Theanny Herbert Myers was the pick of the bowlers with 2-12, as three other players grabbed a wicket each during their spell.
Windwards beat Jamaica by 6 wickets
After Jamaica batted first and posted 102 for 6 from 20 overs. Kenisha Ferron (32) and Stefanie Taylor (22), led the batting while spinner Afy Fletcher snatched 2 for 11 with a wicket each coming from three of her teammates.
Windwards then made light work of the total, finishing on 103-4 in 20 overs. Fletcher returned to hit 23 alongside Zaida James (28), Janeilla Glasgow (13) and Malika Edward (12*).
The Jamaicans bowling was divided among Celina Whyte, Chedean Nation, Nicole Campbell and Rashada Williams all returned a wicket in a collective effort.
