– T&T, Jamaica pick up wins
Kaieteur Sports – Defending Super50 champs Barbados, continued to dominate their opponents and in the process stormed to their 3rd successive title when action concluded yesterday in St. Ki6.
Trinidad & Tobago alongside Jamaica picked up strong wins but the Champs were on another level as they dominated the series, eventually hoisting the Championship for the third straight time.
Trinidad and Tobago hand Guyana 77-run defeat
Anisa Mohammed stroked a match-winning, unbeaten 54 to help Trinidad and Tobago Red Force Divas storm to 77-run win over Guyana.
Guyana did well to restrict their opponents to 132-8 in their 50 overs as the pair of Shabika Gajnabi (3-17) and Plaffianna Millington (2-20) led the bowling.
Guyana were the knocked over for 56-9 with Millington (15) and Realeanna Grimmond (10) the only two batters to reach double figures. T&T Left-arm spinner Steffie Soogrim was their chief destroyer, bagging 6-14.
Barbados beat Leewards by 7 wickets
Leewards were riddled for just 74 runs inside 30 overs as Bajan pacers Shakera Selman (3-9), Allison Gordon (2-15) and Asabi Callender (2-17) feasted on the lineup.
Aaliyah Alleyne (21*), Trishan Holder (18), Alyssa Scantlebury (14*) and Kycia Knight (13) then eased the defending champs to 75-3 in 12 overs, leaving 228 balls untouched.
Jamaica defeat Windwards Islands by 8 runs
Another low-scoring match witnessed the Jamaicans wrapping up an easy win after defending 105 all out. Jody-Ann Brown (23), Chedean Nation (16) and Rashada Williams (12) were the main run-getters.
Windwards then collapsed to 97 all out in the 23rd over despite Malika Edwards hitting 35 at the top. Pearl Etienne (21) and Nerissa Crafton (14) were the other scorers.
The spin/pace combo of Vanessa Watts, who snatched up 4 for 20 and Nation who grabbed 3-17, saw Jamaica over the line with ease after a shaky start.
