Dear Editor
OWOC would like to set the records straight with respect to vilification and media propaganda by someone who is neither a journalist nor a critic. This gentleman who goes by the name “Critic,” an admitted PNC/APNU supporter now an apparent PPP propagandist and rabble-rouser has been unleashed to attack, demonise, villify and slander our member Mr. Danny Ramnarain. Mr. Ramnarain, from Leonora, is a descendant of the Guyana Sugar Hero and Martyr Kowsilla, whose name the PPP loves to associate with and celebrate annually. Following in the tradition of the Great Kowsilla, Mr. Ramnarain has been an advocate for fairness, justice and a better life, especially for the working poor of Guyana.
Apparently, the PPP sees anyone who stands for justice and fair play as a threat to them. It appears as if they have unleashed Mr. Critic using vulgar language and vile antics on his programme to spread false rumours that Mr. Ramnarain has committed murder and rape, and that he has conned people in business. All of this is very false and slanderous.
The truth is that Mr. Ramnarain has been a successful businessman. In response to the PPP Government’s call for diasporans to return and invest in Guyana, Mr. Ramnarain attempted to establish a shore base business, but given Guyana’s climate of “friends and family” getting concessions, that shore base business has not accomplished the anticipated successes. Mr. Ramnarain, like others, is committed to Guyana and would like to see the worst oil contract in the world renegotiated so that Guyana can have more money to eradicate poverty among the weakest and most vulnerable among us. Mr. Critic claims Mr. Glenn Lall has formed a political party and that Mr. Ramnarain is the Prime Minister Candidate.
This is so patently false and fake news. Mr. Ramnarain is a Guyanese nationalist who associates with that company of Guyanese who hold the view that both the PNC and PPP Government have failed the nation and sold out to the oil oligarchs who give us only a 2% royalty for our oil. Mr. Ramnarain is also among the growing number of people whose eyes have been opened that Mr. Glenn Lall and the Kaieteur News Radio programmes have been telling the truth about how Guyana is being exploited by the oil barons in collusion with our government functionaries. Mr. Ramnarain also believes that the Government’s recent appeal of a case against Exxon that gives Guyana an enormous victory and leverage for renegotiation, is a great betrayal of our nation.
Mr. Ramnarain will continue to support causes that ensure that the bulk of Guyana’s wealth goes to the working poor of Guyana. If the Government is nervous about Mr. Daggers march and message for renegotiation, supported by Mr. Glenn Lall, is gaining traction, unleashing a shady character to spew vile messages against Mr. Ramnarain is sure to backfire. Mr. Ramnarain is not the one doing ‘su-su transactions’, nor is he the one taking bribes and kickbacks in current pay-to-play schemes. We have all confidence in our colleague Mr. Ramnarain, and stand by him all the way. Karma and the long arm of the law usually brings justice to those vilified. Don’t be fooled Guyana! Watch out for those who would demonize good, honest people for political motives. It’s our country and our wealth and we must be vigilant.
Sincerely,
Our Wealth, Our Country (OWOC)
