Kaieteur Sports – Phantom emerged winners with 80 games when the Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret.) ‘One Guyana’ Linden Dominoes tournament ended as they stopped Corruption on 69 games and Hustlers placed third on 51 games when the tournament ended Monday at Shanghai’s place in Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Phantom’s Lashley George was the best player on show with the maximum 18 games to lead the Georgetown-based team to the win which was worth $600,000 and the Prime Minister’s Trophy and he was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the final.
Corrupt also from Georgetown received $300,000 and a trophy for placing second and the Yarrowkabra team Hustlers $100,000 and a trophy also.
Presenting the championship trophy was World Council Dominoes President Mr. Macbeth along with Ms. Barbara Marshall, Assistant secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association to the winners and competition’s coordinator Colin Aaron.
Two teams were adjudged Best Dressed and they were Providence and Mix Up.
The defending champions Executives were unable to get past the first round of the tournament where 24 teams entered.
