Dear Editor,
There are people in Guyana calling for God to come and save Guyana. Maybe God did answer Guyana and may have said, ‘I give you people a country with wealth to make you all rich beyond your wildest dreams, a country beautifully positioned on the equator for stable weather all year around and avoiding major natural disasters, a country bountiful in flora and fauna with rich agricultural lands, a country not landlocked giving you people access to the ocean for shipping, a country multiracial and multicultural with the gifts of many races and religions, a country with democracy, education, and beautiful hard-working people countrywide. But, by the way, this God can’t help you people with the racist and divisiveness, the destructive mentality you have festered upon yourselves as I never taught you people that as your divisiveness is costing you your country this God gave to you’.
The recent musical chairs in the political arena show the PPP gaining some crossover seats, yet these are the same political class that sold Guyana’s wealth away and refuses to fight for Guyana’s wealth. The diversity the PPP will now boast about still will not include representatives for the poor and vulnerable, as none of these politicians will fight for Guyana’s rightful share of the oil and resource wealth for Guyanese. The PPP is throwing pennies in PNC areas and are gaining ground politically since pennies to these areas are better than the nothing the PNC gave them, although Guyanese should be getting a minimum of GY$500,000 dollars monthly from their wealth.
The PNC is now going berserk, as they are losing support politically since they were under the delusion that they own their supporters who would always vote for them even if they give them nothing. Now the PNC has learned the hard way. PNC, the only card you have left is to protest for your rightful share of Guyana’s wealth from the foreign exploiters. Since none of the MP’s will fight for more for Guyana from the Stabroek Block, then Guyana’s political arena is just a big rigmarole circus with one ringmaster controlling the show. Few people have the skill of telling two different, opposing, and contradicting sides of the same story and getting applause from an audience on both stories without the audience realizing they are being duped. The VP in charge of the oil sector have this skill and is using this well among die-hard PPP supporters, and they have rewarded him by answering his call to attack his party’s critics online and locally.
Kaieteur News have been reporting on corruption and theft of Guyana’s wealth for quite a while now, and for this, they have been hit with grenade and guns attacks, lawsuits, daily verbal and online abuse, yet they are getting through to people so the PPP played their trump card labeling Kaieteur News a propaganda tool of the PNC, the AFC, APNU, and FU and saying all the journalists and editors of KN are PNC agents and this has worked brilliantly for the PPP.
The recent online attacks on Davina Bagot, Kiana Wilburg and other KN staff call them PNC agents constantly. For asking for (1) oil parent company full coverage insurance for Guyana, (2) more for Guyana from its oil and resources, (3) accountability and transparency in the oil and resources operations, (4) full Disclosure on Guyana’s oil and resources businesses which Guyanese are entitled to.
How this makes Kaieteur News Staff PNC agents when they were also asking the PNC the same questions? I recently met one of the PPP internet trolls from Florida who complained that Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis is a racist. Talk about the iron in irony! With most of the PPP internet trolls living in the US and an election coming up there featuring Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump, these PPP trolls will be facing the same degradation they did to KN’s Davina Bagot.
As the political circus in Guyana continues, oil companies from some of their operations here have recorded the highest profits in their history with their executive staff receiving their largest compensation increases ever. Exxon’s CEO Darren Woods new compensation package amounts to an 80% increase, and is now earning 36M US dollars annually, Guyana’s public servants received 7% in Guyana dollars. With Guyana continuing with the same politics, politicians, and policies, Guyanese are waving goodbye to the oil, the gold, the diamonds, the other precious minerals, the bauxite, the timber, the fish and seafood industry, the agriculture industry. And now waving goodbye to the Marriot Hotel and wondering which resource or state asset will be leaving us next.
Yours truly,
R. David.
