– ‘One Guyana Futsal Championships’ continues tonight
Kaieteur News – Gold is Money, Stabroek Ballers and Beterverwagting (BV) are the latest teams to secure wins when the One Guyana Futsal Championship continued on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium.
Michael Ore (16’,30’), along with Michael Pedro (25’) and Randolph Wagner (30’), were the goal scorers for Gold is Money in their 4 – 1 win over Foot Steppers.
Meanwhile, Stabroek Ballers, behind a hat-trick from Bevney Mark (9’, 10’, 13’), rallied to an emphatic 8-1 win against Bagotstown Warriors when the two sides met.
Mark Jhalu (2’, 26’) had a double in the win, while the Stabroek Ballers’ other goals came from Omar Jones (29’), Seon Taylor (3’) and Shemar Welsh (15’).
Bagotstown Warriors’ only goal of the game was scored by Joel McGarron in the fourth minute.
Steveden Miller’s strike in the 12th minute was all it took for Beterverwagting (BV) to secure their first win of the tournament when they faced fellow East Coast Demerara side, Melanie.
Also, on night two of the lucrative Futsal spectacle, Wismar All-Stars and Timehri Ballers played to an entertaining 3 – 3 draw.
Allan Haley (20’), Felix Innis (9’) and Jonah Simon (7’) found the net for Wismar All-Stars, while Timehri Ballers’ goals were scored by Timothy Thomas (17’, 25’) and Mark Correya (18’).
The tournament will continue tonight with four more matches, as Mackenzie All-Stars face Paradise at 8:00 pm, followed by a battle between Show Stoppers and North East, Tiger Bay versus Pouderoyen and Leopold Street coming up against Kingston.
The One Guyana Futsal tournament will carry a first-place prize of $1M, compliments of Mohamed’s Enterprise. The second-place team will pocket $500,000, while $200,000 and $100,000 will go to the teams finishing third and fourth respectively.
The lucrative tournament will see the second-place team with $500,000, while $200,000 will go to third place and $100,000 towards the team finishing fourth. (Rawle Toney)
