Kaieteur News – All is set for the Port Mourant Turf club (PMTC) one day horserace meet set for today at the club’s track situated at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
Eight races are listed for the day with the sponsorship being boosted to close to $10M in cash, trophies and other incentives with jockeys, owners and patrons all expected to cash in.
With race day here, Trophy Stall has hopped on board in a major way and will be presenting trophies for the outstanding individual performers.
Most of the top horses in the country have taken entry for the big showdown. When entries closed with over 60 horses already registered in what is expected to be an exhilarating event.
The main event is open to all racehorses in Guyana and will be run over one mile for a winner’s purse of $2M and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited.
The three-year-old Open Guyana and West Indian-bred race over 6.75furlongs has a winning purse of $1 M and trophy.
The other events on board will all be run over 6 furlongs and will see the winners receiving hefty prizes and trophies.
The other events are for the E and North American nonstarters; Animals classified H and lower; the J class open race; the L class open; the J and Lower maiden and the Three-year-old Guyana-bred maiden.
The day’s event will be held using the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
Sponsors of this event include Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, KP Jagdeo General Contractors, Anil Sawh, Kascon Engineering and Delmur Company Limited among others.
