Elections fraud cases, why the standstill two years later?

Dear Editor,

Another day in the life of the elections fraud cases before the court and another prompt put off (SN Mar 14), while persons charged are roaming on paltry bail.  Two years and the cases cannot have their day in court.  This is pure damn nonsense (that phrase again).

What does the DPP have to say about the continued delay and slothfulness in getting these matters started?  Or would it be a case that one day we will be told the cases can no longer be prosecuted or proceed due to the amount of time elapsed?  In contrast other countries, notably the U S, have had its turbulent post-election matters dealt with and persons found culpable are behind bars. Why Guyana has to be different? The prolonging of these cases is justice denied to aggrieved citizens. The Court has a responsibility to ensure this does not happen.
