Kaieteur News – Maria’s Pleasure emerged champions of the Wakenaam leg of the Guyana Cricket Board Republic Bank ‘five for fun’ Primary School Windball cricket competition which concluded recently at G Square Cavaliers ground in Belle Plaine.
Following victories in their first two games, Maria’s Pleasure beat Arthurville by 41 runs in their third game. Arthurville made 61 from their allotted five overs, batting first.
Alex Welcome scored 10. Maria’s Pleasure responded with 102. Hayforeld Daniels made 14 and Alana Benjamin 12.
Zeelandia defeated Sans Souci by 17 runs. Sans Souci made 47 while Zeelanida scored 64 in reply. Marvil Benjamin scored 14 as Shivanie Sahadeo took two wickets. Maria’s Pleasure have advanced to the county playoffs.
The competition regulation states that each team shall commence its innings with 50 runs and three runs shall be deducted to each dismissal. Two runs are scored for each wide and no ball. Each team is made up of five players and each player shall bat and bowl one over. Teams will also be involved in a pre-match bowl off which will add points to their total.
