Kaieteur News – Pre Mash inter-Secondary School’s Tapeball competition final was held on Saturday 18th February at the Durban Park Tarmac located along Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown and the Diamond Secondary School won their second Pre Mash Inter Secondary Schools Tapeball cricket competition on the trot.
The tournament was organised by the Holy Family Bible Club. On Saturday, two semi finals were played before assimilating a final between Vergenoegen Secondary School and Diamond Secondary.
In the first of the two semi finals, Patentia Secondary School made light work for the Diamond Secondary. Diamond Secondary School posted 61 runs off of their allotted four overs in the first innings. Patentia Secondary in return made 29 runs in their four overs to hand Diamond Secondary School a comfortable win to advance into the final.
Across in the second Semi finals, Vergenoegen Secondary School went up against St Rose’s High School. Vergenoegen Secondary defeated St. Rose’s High to meet Diamond Secondary. St Rose’s High batted first; scoring 28 runs from four overs. Vergenoegen Secondary School comfortably got to 31 runs in 3.2 overs to meet Diamond Secondary in the Pre-Mash Tapeball final.
Meanwhile, Diamond Secondary trashed Vergenoegen Secondary in the final of the competition. Vergenoegen batted first and scored 34 runs off their allotted four overs. Diamond Secondary reaching to their target losing only one wicket in the process. Diamond Secondary cruised to 37-1 to claim the Uprising Pre-Mash Inter-Secondary School Tapeball championship for the second time in a row.
Diamond Secondary School was presented with the winning trophy donated by James “Uprising” Lewis by Trevon Boston a member of the Holy Family Bible Club.
