NO70 MYO advance
Kaieteur News – After being delayed due to the inclement weather the second finalist in the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) / Vishnu Super Store 50 over cricket competition for teams in the Upper Corentyne area has been decided.
No70 MYO will now join No68 Turn team as the second team in the final which will be played shortly.
In their semifinal game which was delayed for a lengthy time due to the inclement weather No70 MYO defeated No73 Young Warriors who did not show much fight in the game and lost by 6 wickets.
The No73 Warriors batted first and were held to 136 with Lakeram Latchman 61(6×4, 2×6) and Azad Mohammed 33 being the main scorers.
Bowling for the No70 MYO Azad Mahadeo led the way with 4 wickets while Mohammed Khan and Salim Khan picked up two each.
In reply No70 MYO made light work of the target as they canter to 137-4 with Mohammed Khan returning to score an unbeaten 43, N. Khan supported with 33, Rasheed Ali 20 with A. Khan being 17 not out and extras contributing 23.
Four bowlers picked up one wicket each for the Warriors.
The final will be played shortly between No70 MYO and No68 Turn Team.
The competition, which started as a 50 over affair, was then played as a T20 competition after rain severely affected the matches. Now the organizers have reverted to the 50 overs format.
The competition began with 30 teams participating. The competition is being coordinated by former Guyana wicketkeeper batsman Sydney Jackman. (Samuel Whyte)
