– Movie sequel being released here on February 19
Kaieteur News – Guyanese will soon be able to savour the taste of more artistic talent of their compatriots. In exactly a fortnight, Brown Sugar Too Bitter For Me 2 – “The Oil Dream” will be released, and of course there’s already a buzz in the air. It is a spinoff and continuation of the original “Brown Sugar too bitter for me” which has popularly spread all over Guyana and the Diaspora.
Both movies were written by Guyanese writer, Somnauth Narine, and produced and directed by Mahadeo Shivraj.
Part 2 is set to release for Mashramani on February 19th at the Movietowne Multiplex, and will continue onwards.
The large diverse cast is made up of many popular Guyanese actors, and then there are also many making their film debut. Some cast members who are well known are: Michael Ignatius, Neaz Subhan, Roger Hinds, Simone Dowding, Sean Thompson, Roshan Khan, Mark Luke Edwards, Paul Budnah, Aditya Persaud, Nelan Benjamin, Sean Budnah and Mahadeo Shivraj.
Shivraj had produced a ‘Brown Sugar Too Bitter for Me’ more than a decade ago. The first movie depicted the clashes in societal classes and the economic differences encountered when the upper class weds an individual of supposedly lower status.
The sequel movie tells a gripping story and brings to life the everyday issue of differences in economic levels and the eventuality of segregation between ‘society classes’ in the past and even today.
Brown Sugar Too Bitter For Me 2 – “The Oil Dream” – is a social comedy where raw greed and political power confront the pathos and humanity of the poor. There’s a compelling storyline; it’s a must-see!
