President Ali insults Kuwait, Qatar and UAE on cash transfers to their citizens

Reported in Demerara Waves on 15 November, 2022, addressing a reception at the United Kingdom High Commissioner’s residence in honour of a British trade and investment mission, the President disagreed with the opposition Working People’s Alliance (WPA) four-year old proposal that at least GY$1 million should be given to each Guyanese per year. “Don’t tell me nonsense about giving every household a million dollars from oil, money. With all due respect, President Ali, is insulting Kuwait, Qatar, and UAE, as these nations do use “cash transfers” for their citizens’ well-being, with remarkable successes, which can be experienced when a foreign visitor visits these countries, talk with knowledgeable Ambassadors, or do their research. Year 2021 Guyana received in the National Resource Fund (NRF) USD $607 Million. The NRF Act 2021 came into operation on 1st January 2022, and as part of the Budget 2022 process, Parliamentary approval was granted for a total of US$607.6 million to be transferred during fiscal year 2022.

Guyana’s 210,000 households at USD $1,000: per year will amount to USD $210 Million, for a start, and is doable in oil and gas rich Guyana. These resources’ riches are Guyanese wealth, and they should share in it, equally, and this is, real democracy to share in the wealth given by God Almighty. Kuwait, Qatar, and UAE started their assistances to citizens between two to three years after their oil wealth.

KUWAIT for Kuwaitis

Oil & Gas Wealth to Kuwaitis, with ID Cards, which facilitates Automatic, Monthly, Bank Wire Transfers, Male KWD 1,000 = USD $3,270; Female KWD 500 = USD $1,635; and Each Child KWD 250 = USD $818: Kuwait values very importantly its citizens who are the owners of its oil and gas wealth. Qatar government provides the following to ALL Qatari citizens, no tax; free electricity & water for primary residence; free healthcare; free education; USD $3,000 monthly salary for qualified Qataris in need of assistance (elderly, divorced, widow, orphans, etc.); Every Qatari is also guaranteed a job; plus free plot of land (1,000 SQM = 0.24711 Acres) and QR. 1.2 million = (USD $ 329, 410) interest free housing loan to be repaid over 25 years with 50% write off = USD $164, 705) this is for married university graduates. Qataris with less than a bachelor’s degree get 60% of the land size and loan. (USD $197,646 write off ).

UAE for Emiratis

With ID card, facilitates, free LAND, free EDUCATION, free WEDDING, free hospital care, free FUNERAL paid, including an air-conditioned TENT within 5 hours of death, next to Emirati home. When a child is born, parents pay nothing for 9 months; University degree programmes are free, upon marriage USD $20,000: for a wedding reception, Grant to build a home with ZERO interest, surgery overseas for free, many discounts and caretaker when sick.
