Dear Editor,
It is known evil forms in someone’s mind, for those in power like Politicians and powerful corporations, this evil gets to manifest and spread to the populace. There are many evil people throughout history, like Adolf Hitler, yet it is argued among historians, Hitler became so powerful because of the work of his Propaganda Minister, Paul Josef Goebbels. We see the ABC, EU and China spreading their propaganda how they are the ones bringing progress and development to the Third World, yet as information becomes more available, we see some of the atrocities committed on the Third World by ABC, EU, and China rivaling those of Hitler and other evil people. A propaganda broadcast by the Hutu Government in Rwanda saw the genocide of the Tutsi people there, and there are many examples like these that can be mentioned.
Switching locally to Guyana, we see a country at independence having so much wealth and potential was set upon a destructive path starting with Burnham and his cabal of incompetents and continued by all subsequent presidents. Their giving away the country’s wealth, corruption, and other detrimental policies affecting the poor and vulnerable of Guyanese society that never shouldn’t have happened as Guyana always enough to give every Guyanese the basics of life of food, clothes and shelter. Apologists of Burnham and the PNC, now say it’s the CIA to be blamed for the PNC’s actions, not the PNC.
The PPP apologists now have their own propaganda game, which is to blame the PNC and COVID-19 for everything, yet when these parties campaigned for elections, they promised to right all the wrongs plaguing the country. When PPP gave away the oil blocks their apologists called it progress and the PNC apologists called it criminal, when the PNC gave away the oil while in power, apologists of both parties messaging went into complete reverse. Propagandists of the exploitive foreigners are telling the world how they are here to help Guyana, not the truth that they are helping themselves to Guyana. Sensible citizens of good countries would put their differences aside and take on the foreign or domestic threat to their country, but this doesn’t happen in Guyana allowing the foreigners and their local collaborators to continue riding the rich lucrative wave of divisiveness.
While PNC and PPP apologists squabble in the blame game, propagandists and apologists use the 3D defense very well, deny, defend and deflect wrongdoings for those who they like, while criticizing who they dislike for the same evils. If Guyanese of all stripes don’t unite and disrupt Exxon’s operations forcing to them renegotiate, then Guyanese should start preparing for the aftermath of destruction, as all signs point to where Guyana is heading. Just the thought of what this will look like, causes shivers in one’s spine, strangling debt, countrywide poverty, poisonous and polluted air, water and soil, helplessness and the unimaginable struggle just to exist and survive. If this dire scenario does playout in Guyana, Shaggy’s song “It wasn’t me” will be popular among the evildoers and their apologists. This defense from them has even started, ex and current parliamentarians, project managers, contractors, whose signatures are on documents and were key decisionmakers in projects and contracts are saying they are not to be blamed. So who is?
Apologists are using the free speech right to defend the indefensible, they quote Jesus “those without sin cast the first stone”. Or,we do evil since the other side does it. Evildoers should know apologies only work for honest unintentional mistakes that people were not aware of. But for premeditated acts of evilness, fully well knowing such acts will cause harm to innocent and unsuspecting people, apologies and apologists can’t save evildoers from this as only the creator settles this. At the end of all this, how do you listen to evildoers and their apologists? How do you vote for evil Politicians? How do you associate yourself with them? How do you behave in their presence? I don’t know, maybe Glenn Lall’s wisdom can help me.
Sincerely,
R. David
