Dear Editor,
The call that ‘much more community support is needed to protect vulnerable older folks’ (News Room Nov 29) following the gruesome murders of two elderly women, one day apart, does not take into account in these particular cases, family members, and female members, were allegedly involved. The community it seems, is being asked to take on the role of ‘sisters’ keeper’ even in the face of relatives, who in their roles, should be so doing.
In one of the cases, a family member confessed to being part of the plan as she conspired with and aided and abetted the alleged killer, a fellow villager. So how can the community be involved when supposedly trusted family members who are frequent visitors to the homes, are planning and scheming to commit a felony against aged relatives, who are unsuspicious and innocent to the evil plot being hatched.
