Dear Editor,
I use as reference; the old Roshan Khan I knew, our most recent messenger conversation and the “RK’s Guyana Free!! Jailall!” Facebook Video. It was very good to be in contact with you after such a long time. For the past two years, I have been scrutinizing the media voices coming out of Guyana, to ascertain who is really for the people, and the Lord led me to Dr. Glenn Lall. I feel that he is the most caring, honest, and genuine voice out there, to date. He does not have to fight, for he is well off, but he seems genuinely concerned for the poor and downtrodden. I strongly believe that he should run for political office in the future. Guyana needs to be united.
Guyana has been kept down in past, in part by the tried and tested; divide and conquer tactics, used by its colonizers, conquerors, exploiters and most egregiously, its leaders, from time immemorial. Every leader from Guyana’s inception as a republic to present has failed the Guyanese people, without exception. Yes, some have done better than others but that is not our barometer; our barometer is what is the position and condition (living standard) of the ordinary man. They say the measurement of a country’s caliber is how it treats its most vulnerable citizens – the poor, the young, the un-educated, the disabled, the minorities, the single mothers, the disadvantaged, the marginalized etc.
From a strictly quantum perspective; Guyana has arguably, always been one of the wealthiest countries in the world, per capita, naturally. Now, due to the fact that the most invaluable natural resources are being tapped and quantified, Guyana is arguably one of the wealthiest countries, per capita, on the earth, at this present time. Now let’s juxtapose that with the living standard of the average person and the condition of the country as a whole; one would have to come to the logical conclusion that something is definitely amiss – perhaps diabolically amiss, even invariably, deviltry amiss.
The Roshan Kan I know is also a man like Dr. Glenn Lall; humble, caring, concerned and talented. You assisted me when I was down, and I appreciate that very much. I can never forget that. I truly think that Dr. Glenn Lall and the old Roshan Khan, that is, if he does not have to be resurrected, would be a good team to lead a political party to contest the next general election. I truly think that you two would do better for the people, than all the leaders combined, from its inception as a republic, to today.
Now, regarding your soliloquy in your “In the Raw” video. Please take some constructive criticism. Like I told you in our private conversation, you seem bitter and angry, and I am disappointed. I will not say what you told me, regarding certain personal grievances, but I can truly sympathize with you. I told you that I am not your judge. One author penned; “When you know God, you can be humble and when you know yourself, you cannot be proud”. Though we are not of the same ethnicity, you did not let that stop you from assisting me up. I thank you. I told you that you are to be loyal to God, not man. You judged my motives and even accused me of being sympathetic to a man and party, I do not even know or have never supported. You made a lot of assumptions and jumped to a lot of conclusions that has no basis in fact.
What is most troubling, is you explanation of why more monies is not pumped into the economy; your words; “putting too much monies into people’s hand would bring inflation”. Then you went on to say that it would bring too much liquidity in the country and prices would increase. “So, they have to do it sporadically, slowly and they will do, wait and see in another two years”. Thou I agree with you of the fact that we have to give His Excellency, Prime Minister, Dr. Irfaanand Vice President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo time; but if the past performance is an indicator, we have to not only give them time; we have to pray and then we have to act in the best interest of the Guyanese people, legally, to hold them and the opposition accountable.
The opposition’s job is to hold the administration accountable, and the people’s job is to hold both the administration and the opposition accountable, and I agree with Dr. Glenn Lall: all have failed in their obligations, in this regard miserably. Now, I am an IT specialist not an economist, but I have taught accounting in the past. Liquidity has nothing to do with too much monies in an economy. Liquidity is simply the amount of liquid cash or current assets available, from a business perspective, as opposed to long term or fixed assets; which takes longer to convert to liquid cash; Liquidity is a good thing from a business perspective. Most of the developed world gives their citizens money on a monthly basis and it has never raised prices.
Dr. Khan, my brother and friend. I know that you are a decent individual and my admonition to you would be; would the real Dr. Roshan Khan please stand up and join Dr. Glenn Lall as a political team to unite our people and take Guyana to the next level. Dr. Lall is “In The Arena”; as in the likeness of Theodore Roosevelt’s poem, “The Man in the Arena”. Please join him in the arena and unite the Guyanese people and lead them to a better future; just as Moses led the children of Israel to the promise land.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Abrams,
A sinner saved by grace.
