Dear Editor,
I must congratulate the Government for the National Cleanup Exercise that’s underway throughout Guyana, but at the said time, the upkeep must be strong enforcement, regardless of who the culprits are. I would like the Ministry of Public Works to have a look at Bath Settlement in Region 5 where the entire reserve on both side of the carriageway is occupied causing a traffic nightmare. The drainage system is blocked, water lodges after the rain causing fertile breeding ground for mosquitoes. Businesses occupy every inch up to the roadway causing damage to the shoulder of the road. Look at a place on Pitt Street owned by a contractor near the head off the road causing traffic nightmares on the weekend, loud music causing sleeping nightmares for older citizen around the neighbourhood and abandoned vehicles on the shoulder of the road are some of the things need looking into immediately.
Yours faithfully,
Anand Persaud
