Kaieteur News – The Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc has attracted the backing of P and P Insurance Brokers for the hosting of this year’s Prime Minister’s T20 Cup.
Executive Director of the entity Vikash Panday recently handed over a cheque to the GSCL inc. President Ian John.
Vikash Panday said he is pleased to lend support to such a huge tournament and added that he is looking forward to a successful tournament. P and P has been supporting the tournament over the years and President of the GSCL Inc Ian John expressed gratitude to the entity. John reminded that the draw for the tournament will be done today at DCC and is asking the teams to ensure their representatives are present. John noted that a female leg will be played for the first time in this year’s competition.
The event, which is being held in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, is expected to comprise a large number of local and international teams throughout the three days, November 11-13.
Over one million dollars in prizes will be up for grabs and there will be no entrance fee.
The GSCL has also announced cash prizes and other incentives for all the categories with the All Stars Open, Masters Over-40 and Legends Over-50 winners carting off a hefty $300,000 each, plus trophies and the runners-up $50,000 and trophies.
The man-of-the-match in the three finals will collect a trophy each, while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in each category will walk away with flat screen televisions valued at $140,000 each.
The female category winners will take home $50,000 and a trophy, runners-up $25,000 and a trophy, player-of-the-final a trophy, while the player-of-the-series will receive a blender.
