Over 60 horses entered to compete
Kaieteur News – With the horseracing season in full flow, the action is expected to be riveting come today, Sunday 6th November, at the Port Mourant Turf Club. Corentyne Berbice.
The occasion is the Port Mourant Turf Club one day horse race meet.
With seven races listed for the day, turfites are expected to turn out in the numbers as a number of the country’s top horses are expected to be on show.
Banks DIH Limited, regarded as the Beverage Giants which is one of the leading locally owned Companies in the Country, are expected to be on board in a big way with their many products expected to be on sale to compliment the day’s action.
The feature event is for animals classified C and Lower, and most of the Country’s top trotters are expected to enter the starting gates as they battle for the $1million and trophy up for grabs.
The event is expected to see the likes of season trotters Golden Blue Echo in full flight as it looks to turn back the challenge of Vera’s Finally, Our Stuie, Looking to Heaven, Jessica’s Pride, Everesting and Coup D Etat in the one mile event.
The other events which are all 6 furlongs affairs are for horses classified H and lower for a winner take of $500,000 and trophy, two years old maiden for a $400,000 and trophy, K and lower for a winning take of $300,000. The horses classified J and lower will also be racing for a winner’s collection of $300,000 and trophy.
The race for L class open has a winner’s take of $200,000 and trophy. The final event which also has a $200,000 money and trophy available for the winner is for J class nonstarters and those that haven’t placed for 2022.
The race will be run using the drafted rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
