GCA/GTT T10 KO Open Cricket Festival

Kaieteur News – The inaugural Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), GTT T10 KO Open Cricket Festival got going yesterday at GDFground in the City despite some early morning showers which affected some games.
The competition is open to all teams in Georgetown including first and second Division players.
The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) beat Agricola by eight wickets, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated Bel Air Rubis and Transport beat 4R Lion by two runs at the GDF ground.
Agricola, led by 20 with two sixes from Idris Allen and 10 from Shewbert Williams, reached 45-4 as Renaldo Ali Mohamed took 2-10.
Mavindra Dindyal then scored an unbeaten 30 to spearhead GCC to 46-2 in a game that was reduced to seven overs per side as his team won by eight wickets.
The home team GDF, spearheaded by 28 with four sixes from Zameer Nazeer and 19 from Hakeem David with a four and two sixes, scored 55-2 with Mahindra Jeenarine capturing 2-13.
Bel Air Rubis could only reach 45-2 to lose by 10 runs.
In the third game of the day at GDF, Transport SC beat 4R Lions by two runs. Transport batted first as the sun came out and reached 98-1 in 10 overs with Adrian Hinds smashing four fours and three sixes in 45 not out and Alvin Mohabir clearing the boundary twice in an undefeated 34.
The pair joined forces after Jamal Wilson was dismissed by Chaitram Balgobin for four.
4R Lions in reply, fell two runs short despite a pugnacious 49 from Nizam Khan who faced 21 balls and clobbered six sixes.
He got support from Seecharan Budhu who made 19 with a six and a four and Balgobin who deposited two sixes in 15 from five balls but it was too little too late as the overs ran out. Dave Mohabir, who dismissed Khan, finished with 3-14.
The tournament is scheduled to continue today.
