Guyanese Eugene Lafleur gets ‘Most Wickets in the Tourney’ Award
Kaieteur News – A fine all round performance fromformer West Indies off-spinning all-rounder Ryan Hurly spearheaded Melbourne to victory in the Final of the Mississauga Cricket League Boom Boom T10 Competition which was held last Sunday with Melbourne Cricket Club defeating Watan Warrior by seven wickets in the Final at the Danville Cricket Ground in Canada.
The 47-old Hurly, who played nine ODIs for West Indies between May 24, 2003 and February 4, 2004, took 3-18 before returning with the bat to hit two fours in 23 to be named theMan-of-the-Match.
Melbourne, the defending 40 overs and T20 Champions, won the toss and invited Watan Warriors to bat in cold conditions on a heavy outfield they were restricted to 74-9 when their 10 overs expired
Ali Nadeem led the way with 37 with four fours and six and was supported by Naeem Iqbal who made 11 with two boundaries and Shariq Muhamed who scored 12 with a four.
Bowling for Melbourne, former Guyana youth Captain, left-arm spinner Eugene Lafleur captured 3-11 from two overs, Barbadian Hurley had 3-18 his two overs while
Sherwin Layne took 2-7 from his two overs.
Melbourne, who dominated the League in all three formats, raced to 76-2 in 8. 1 overs to win another title as Hurley top scored 23 with two fours while Woolcock Jeffery contributed 19 which included a four and a six. Berbician Lafleur was not out on 13 when victory was achieved. (Sean Devers)
