Kaieteur News – If Barack Obama had run against Bernie Sanders, I would have voted for Sanders. If Kamala Harris seeks the Democrats’ nomination for the presidential candidacy and she is opposed by Elizabeth Warren. I would vote for Warren.
There is no Black senator in the US Senate that I think is closer to my ideology than Sanders and Warren. I would always vote based on conceptualisations and not race. In the Guyana 2020 elections, I voted for an Amerindian presidential candidate – Lenox Shuman.
The connection with Black and Indian politicians and conservatism is something Blacks and Indians around the world grew up with the past 80 years and see as a contradiction. To see a non-White British politician in the Conservative Party was a thought that was unimaginable. To see a Black American politician embracing the Republican Party in the 1970s we thought was something from a movie.
That world is dead. It died at the beginning of the 21st century. There is no longer a connection between non-White British politicians and the Labour Party and Black politicians and the Republican Party in the US. In other words, colour and conservative politics lost their non-existent relationship a long time ago.
When Boris Johnson became Prime Minister some of the most important Cabinet portfolios went to Indians. When Johnson agreed to step down, five contestants vying to be Prime Minister were Indians and Africans.
Rishi Sunak in the different stages of the contest always came out on top winning the votes of White parliamentarians and brought a close second to Ms. Truss in the final round where the members of the Conservative Party which is 95 percent White voted.
Prime Minister Truss has given some of the most important Cabinet portfolios to non-White Conservatives. In the United States, one of the die-hard Trump supporters is the former Governor of South Carolina who is East Indian and who may run for the presidency in the next election. Her name is Nimrata Randhawa Halley.
When one thinks of non-White politicians being more radical and liberal than their White counterparts one is fooling one’s self in the 21st century. In the UK, there are non-White politicians who are far more conservative, and less progressive than most of the White leaders in the Labour Party and the Liberal-Social Democratic Party commonly known as LIB-DEMS.
Rishi Sunak was accused of being an elitist with aristocratic leanings when a video surfaced during his battle to succeed Boris Johnson. He said in the video that he has friends from the rich classes, the aristocracy, the middle-class but not the working-class.
Why would any idiot leave White working-class politicians in the Labour Party to vote for Sunak? If you are non-White and from the working-class and in your constituency Sunak is being opposed by a White liberal from the Labour Party, who would you vote for? If the determinant is race, then your mind is definitely unwholesome.
So last week, the British Labour Party suspended one of its Indian Member of Parliament because of what she said about the Minister of Finance (known in the UK as Chancellor of the Exchequer). Rupa Huq said that Minister Kwasi Kwarteng was superficially Black.
The problem with Ms. Huq was with her Freudian mind. She believes that Black and Indians politicians that join the White establishment are secret self-haters and betrayers and not willing to identify with their race and culture.
Although I prefer Ms. Huq by millions of miles to Mr. Kwarteng and though I support the Labour Party over the Conservative Party by trillions of miles, I think Ms. Huq is living in the past with her Freudian mind.
Skin colour and conservative politics no longer are strangers that would never meet face to face. People can choose an ideology that has no bearing to their pigmentation. It is we, the non-White people of the world, who are fools when we give our votes to non-White politicians because they are of the same ethnicity. Black Americans are going to stay home if Kamala Harris is not the presidential candidate. They want a Black woman to be president not a candidate that would serve the needs of Black people.
Our thinking is outdated in this respect. We still have the same idiotic, backward thinking about White people being racist. Give me White Europeans, White Canadians and White Americans any day to be my colleagues, be my boss, be the police chief, over any Arab or South Korean or Japanese.
Fareed Zakaria, a dark-skinned Indian, said the most vicious forms of racism toward him that he has experienced in the US came from non-White people. It is time for humans to judge people by ideas rather race.
