KaietGanesh Choonilall, a thirty-five-year-old hire car driver who was involved in a hit and run accident on the Essequibo Coast last week was remanded to prison yesterday after being slapped with several charges.
Choonilall, who is a resident of Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast, appeared in the Charity Magistrate’s Court and was charged with failure to stop at an accident scene and failure to render assistance to the victim. He was remanded to prison by the presiding magistrate, Crystal Lambert, and is expected to make his second appearance on September 23rd where a causing death by dangerous driving charge will be read to him.
Kaieteur News understands that on Thursday night last, Choonilall struck down sixty-three-year-old Ameer Alli at Adventure on the Essequibo Coast. Choonilall reportedly fled the scene but his rear-view mirror, which bore registration number PWW 2293 was left on the scene. The suspect was subsequently tracked and arrested.
