Dear Editor,
The Equal Rights and Justice Party (E.R.J.P) would like to commend Dr. Glenn Lall for opposing, exposing and disposing the former President and Leader of the Opposition and presently 2nd Vice-President and Leader of the PPP/caring political party for being CONSERVATIVE WITH THE TRUTH to conceal the CORRUPTION causing him to be his usual arrogant self and screwing up the interview.
The 2nd Vice-President can’t even juxtaposed if the PPP/caring political party was in Government in 2016 with 3 Billion barrels of proven oil reserves, what would have been the PPP/caring Government proposed Royalty, Percentage of Share of Profit, Taxes, Rings fencing and Stability Clause of the 2016 PSA.
The E.R.J.P would like to know what would be the revised PSA the PPP/caring Government is proposing for Royalty, Percentage of Share of Profit, Taxes, Rings fencing and Stability Clause now that Guyana has around 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent proven reserves and ranking at 17 for largest oil reserves in the world.
The E.R.J.P wish to state that undetected and unchecked corruption in the public sector can cause serious damage including:
*Undermining public trust in Government
*Wasting public resources and money in mega projects
*Causing injustice through advantaging some at the expense of others, through local content and inflation
*Inefficiencies in operations
*Reputation damage which makes it difficult to recruit and retain quality staff or obtain best value in tender processes. It may also be more difficult to attract legitimate business investment, adversely affecting prosperity.
Globally, the World Economic Forum has estimated that the cost of corruption is about US$2.6 trillion a year, with the 2nd Vice-President attitude towards the truth would increase the cost of corruption drastically, because the 2nd Vice-President and the PPP/caring Government are deliberate and intentional wrong doing, not negligence or a mistake.
Yours Co-operatively,
Jaipaul Sharma
Leader and General Secretary
