Dear Editor,
No society should tolerate fake doctors. Guyana is no exception. Recent reports relating to the identification of medical imposters in Guyana create concerns among citizens. I am glad that your paper continues to identify those who masquerade as medical doctors. Not only can these imposters misdiagnose a disease, but also, they can misidentify treatment and put the life of people at risk. These imposters must be held responsible for their actions.
Editor, speaking of misdiagnosing, I wonder if reports relating to the drop in sugar (-55.9%), rice (-22.4%), fishing (-19%), and gold (-1.5%) make for concern? Looking at these numbers, should we suspect forewarning of Dutch disease? Are the doctors of economics, finance, and planning misdiagnosing this impending disease, misidentifying possible treatment, and putting the life of all Guyanese people at risk?
Editor, while I pray that the medical community has confidence that all the fake doctors have been identified, I hope that the real doctors focus on the possible Dutch disease, diagnose the symptoms, and put into effect all preventative measures. The last thing Guyana needs is another fake doctor. Will the real doctors please stand up?
Respectfully,
Les Archer
