Kaieteur News – Are you looking for that thoughtful gift to give someone on their special day or to even treat yourself once in a while? If your answer is yes, then ‘The Care Box’ is the place for you.
The Care Box, which was birthed in November 2020, offers a wide range of gift packages for occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s, Mother’s and Father’s Day. This popularly known business, which has gifts for just about any age, is owned by the charismatic Saudia Nurmahamad.
Nurmahamad, who is a career-driven individual, is the Corporate Sales Manager at an international hotel in Guyana and is also the owner of an online boutique called SAURABIA. The young woman, who has a deep interest in sales, recently completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Honours at the University of Bedfordshire.
In a recent interview with this magazine, the 24-year-old entrepreneur shared that the concept that sparked her business venture follows an old-time tradition her family embraced whenever there was a special occasion.
“Christmas, birthdays and other important days of significance or holidays, my mother and family, while I was growing up, would put together multiple mini gifts instead of just one for an even greater surprise and that is just what Care Box is about; a box filled with many goodies (related or differing) for a special surprise or we should say…a few special surprises to whom is being gifted or even for someone looking to spoil themselves,” she explained.
Her mother, Shanta Kumar, has been one of her biggest supporters since the establishment of the business. Speaking about support, Nurmahamad shared that her customer base has been great – especially from close friends and other associates – and for that, she is very thankful.
Our featured entrepreneur recalled that during the early stages of her business, there were some challenges she’d encountered, such as getting people to know about her services.
According to her, “We were faced with challenges in getting exposure to our target audience but we have recently started the journey of overcoming that challenge by implementing our PR Package Review and incorporating Brand Ambassadors locally to get more outreach on all social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, just to name a few.”
And regarding the pandemic, she mentioned that it allowed her to effectively carry out the services of her business, and in turn allowed customers to order and have their packages delivered at their convenience. “So granted, the pandemic did not affect the business but instead brought it to existence,” she added.
Excited about where things are headed, the young woman highlighted that her goals for ‘The Care Box’ is for it to become a major gift store (both online and at a physical space) for personal and corporate gifting options for any occasion or purpose.
“We not only would like to offer store line care packages but to expand on our customised box services to corporate companies for their seasonal or unique gifting solutions,” she included.
When asked what role she thinks young owners have in society, she said, “Young entrepreneurs help to spur innovation, creativity, growth and local focus to both young people and elder persons in society.”
According to her too, small businesses in our country can be boosted by being exposed to networking events and social media platforms, practising corporate social responsibility, forming strategic partnerships and even through collaboration with other small business owners. Being open to diversification and frequent adaptation to trend and change in consumer buying behaviour, are also crucial factors, she further disclosed.
