Dear Editor,
The leader of the minority arm of the coalition, a one-time fierce defender of the lopsided 2016 oil contract, negotiated and signed by his government, says it is now ‘time for better terms’, as he affixed his signature to a document in support of renegotiation, (KN August 15).
Expressing he would be astonished if the ‘other members of the opposition do not agree with this position of seeking greater benefits for Guyanese’. What is the position and response of the majority arm to this volte-face? Is the position now adopted by the minority leader a strategy to test the political landscape in view of his party’s impending split from the coalition?
