Kaieteur News – Chien Gittens struck an unbeaten 72 on Saturday to lead Canadian Legends to a comfortable six-wicket win over Leguan Warriors in one of the first-round matches of the 2022 Ontario Softball Cricket League 15-overs knockout competition.
Playing at Ashtonbee Park, Scarborough, Toronto, the right-handed Gittens slammed five sixes and three fours as team reached 118-4 in the 11th replying to Leguan Warriors’ 115-6 off 15-overs.
Former national youth player Shiv Seeram supported Gittens with 15 and shared a rapid opening stand of 55.
Another ex-youth player Krishna Deosaran took two wickets for 18 runs off his maximum three overs.
Proceedings began with Leguan Warriors taking first strike at the invitation of Canadian Legends. Deosaran led the way with an unbeaten 66 laced with five sixes and three fours. Skipper Wallie Bacchus claimed two wickets for 21 runs from his three overs.
Details from the other matches were not available but the competition continues today with three more matches at various venues across the Greater Toronto Area.
