President of the Ontario Twilight Softball Cricket League (OTSCL) Azeem Khan has stated that preparations are moving apace nicely for the forthcoming Canada Cup 1 three-day softball extravaganza.
The event is set for September 2, 3 and 4 with four categories. Teams are expected from Guyana, Florida, Orlando, New York and Canada to compete in the various categories which including, Legends, Masters, Flip and Round-arm in the Opening category.
The Canada Cup 1 has replaced Toronto Cup which was hosted by Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs. Those tournaments were held every two years and it was launched in 2015.

Khan outlined that things are shaping up greatly for the mega softball tournament. He further stated that over 22 teams have confirmed their participation in every category.
“We [are] indeed delighted to have the teams ready to take part; however, we are still waiting on one and two teams to confirm as they have expressed interest of being part; we are looking to have about 28 teams to be in Toronto and we are working hard to have a good showdown,” Khan related.
According to the leader, the round-arm division will be played in the West of Toronto while other three categories will be taking place in Scarborough, East-End Area.
He noted that trophies and cash incentives are up for grabs. All four finals are slated to be held at Ellesmere ground in Scarborough.
