– Hails investments over the years in youth development
Kaieteur News – The management of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club has noted with pride, the selection of several of its players on national junior teams, Guyana Amazon Warriors team and West Indies A. One club member was also selected to be a part of the CWI Emerging Players Academy.
Club Secretary Hilbert Foster noted that the club was delighted that many of its players’ hard work, dedication and discipline continue to bear fruits. The RHTYSC over the last thirty years has produced over one hundred and twenty players who have either played for Berbice, Guyana or the West Indies at the different levels and in 2022 has produced seven new national players and Berbice players.
The club would like to salute the following players who have gained selection at the national level. Under 15- Sohail Mohamed and Razam Koobir, Under 19- Jonathan Rampersaud, Mahendra Gopilall and Jermey Sandia. Additionally, the club would like to salute Kevin Sinclair on his selection to the West Indies A team to play against Bangladesh and Junior Sinclair on being drafted on to the Guyana Warriors 20/20 team to play in the 2022 CPL. Additionally, the club notes with the pride that Kelvon Anderson is currently a member of the CWI Emerging Players Academy.
Foster, who is also the President of the Berbice Cricket Board, noted that the club’s continued production of national players is the result of massive investment in its youth section over the years and a special emphasis on getting them to understand their roles as sports ambassadors of Guyana’s leading youth and sports club. He noted that the cricket development programme of the club is a yearlong effort and the younger players are mentored on a regular basis by senior players and management.
The Club Secretary/CEO noted with pride that a total of nineteen RHTYSC members have gained selection at the regional level for Guyana or the West Indies- Six national senior females, four for the national females under19, two on the national under15 male, three on the under19 team, two on the national senior team and one each for CPL and Emerging Players Academy. Among the other players are Shemaine Campbelle, Sheneta Grimmond, Shakiba Gajnabi, Clinton Pestano, Erva Giddings and Plaffina Millington. The club is confident that in the future, it would continue to produce even more national players due to the recent record breaking Bakewell/Busta Cricket Academy and the soon to be launched Kiddies Cricket Academy for kids between the ages of eight to twelve years.
RHTYSC Cricket Manager Ravindranauth Kissoonlall committed the club to investing heavily in every member’s development and to provide all the necessary equipment needed.
The club would like to encourage the national selectees to stay focused, disciplined and committed as they prepare for national duties.
Management of the club would also like to acknowledge the role that the official sponsors of the RHTYSC Cricket Teams has played in the development of the players. The official sponsors are Poonai Pharmacy, Farfan and Mendes Ltd, Bakewell, Pepsi, Metro Office Supplies, Vitality Inc and Namilco. The RHTYSC also extends best wishes to the Guyana under15 and under19, Amazon Warriors and West Indies A teams.
